Managed code

From Pigmeo - .NET/Mono/CLI (C#, VB.NET, C++/CLI, Nemerle...) for microcontrollers (PIC, dsPIC, AVR...)

Managed code is the code written in any .NET language (C#, VB.NET, Boo, C++/CLI...) which run on top of the CLR, this is, the CLI/.NET/Mono virtual machine. It can be found as CIL inside .NET assemblies (.exe and .dll files).

On the contrary, unmanaged code is machine-language code executed directly by the CPU.

Your source code written in C#, VB.NET or any other language, will usually be compiled into managed code, and then Pigmeo Compiler will read the CIL and convert it to machine code which can be run on the microcontroller.
